About the author
My name is Gabriel. I’m a self-taught illustrator with a background in filmmaking, born in Rio in 1992 and currently based in Canada, where I’m studying to work as a 3D artist in games and animation.
Creative writing has always been a passion, and it’s now one I’m looking to invest in for future projects. No idea if this investment will lead anywhere, all I know is that wherever the bridge is, I’ll just have to get to it before I start to worry about crossing it.
About the project
Parasite Dimension is my personal experiment in worldbuilding and decentralized storytelling, and one I’ve been looking forward to present for a very long time. Early inspirations for the setting date all the way back to the late days of the pandemic, when fear and isolation ruled as the kings of the land, and the psychological horror genre never felt so close to home.
Influences around the days of the early drafts range from the works of David Lynch and Andrei Tarkovsky to Japanese survival horror and the themes and soundscapes of 90s industrial music. Another major reference in recent years has been the visuals and the style of fragmented storytelling made popular by younger authors within the analog horror community, the real driving force behind my curiosity to explore some of the contemporary themes of distrust and anxiety that have since become the trademark of post-pandemic horror.
